Makin besar kecepatan angin meniup baling baling / mangkok tersebut, maka akan makin cepat pula kecepatan berputar dari baling baling/ mangkok tersebut. Dari jumlah putaran per detik dapat diketahui kecepatan anginnya. Di dalam Anemometer, terdapat alat mekanis yang berfungsi menghitung jumlah kecepatan angin.
